Arlington Community FCU Announces End of Year Donations

ARLINGTON, VA (December 18, 2020) – Arlington Community Federal Credit Union announced donations to support four key local nonprofits during the holiday season and for the end of the year. These recipients were chosen by ACFCU staff and reflect the passion of the credit union team to serve neighbors in need throughout the community.

The nonprofits receiving donations from ACFCU are:

  • Culmore Clinic: $4,000 to support their mission to provide little to no cost healthcare to low-income residents of the Bailey’s Crossroads neighborhood.

  • Edu-Futuro: $2,000 to support their mission to ensure immigrant youth and their families attain postsecondary goals, improve long-term financial stability, and strengthen interfamily cohesiveness.

  • Arlington Department of Human Service’s Secret Santa program: $2,000 to make the holiday season a little brighter for vulnerable neighbors by providing much needed gift cards in the holiday season.

  • Bridges to Independence: $2,000 to support their mission to lead families out of homelessness and into stable, independent futures.

Karen Rosales, CEO of ACFCU, said “This has been an incredibly challenging year for our community, especially our nonprofits and the clients and patients they serve. As a not-for-profit cooperative, we have a mission to empower and uplift our local community and serve our neighbors. We have been dedicated to supporting critical nonprofits in this pandemic and look forward to continuing to serve our community during a better year in 2021.”

Anne Lise Quinn, Executive Director of Culmore Clinic remarked "As Culmore Clinic has stretched to meet the extensive healthcare needs of those in our community directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, this incredibly generous gift from Arlington Community Federal Credit Union will mean that many of our struggling, low-income, uninsured patients will not have to choose between paying their rent or buying critical medications prescribed by our providers. We are so grateful for this donation and for the ongoing partnership between Culmore Clinic and ACFCU."

These donations build upon ACFCU’s numerous other 2020 giving campaigns, including Healthcare Heroes to honor the heroic efforts of essential healthcare workers in our community and support local free or low-cost clinics, and the Community Support Plan, which provided funding and volunteerism at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic.
