Volunteer of the Month: Pastor Greg Loewer

We are so lucky to have an incredible partnership with Rev. Greg and his congregation at our former home, Columbia Baptist Church. As Pastor for Missions, Columbia Baptist Church, he served on the Clinic's Board of Directors and now serves on its Advisory Council. During the 8 years that the Clinic was located at Columbia's Crossroads Campus, he was the church's liaison to The Clinic for logistical needs. He always went above and beyond anything we needed.

When prompted, Pastor Greg shared his favorite part about working with Culmore Clinic:

I have been blessed to see the smiling faces of patients who repeatedly express their gratitude for The Clinic and the medical help they have received from the caring doctors and nurses.

And every year there are stories of providential timing of the care given to the patients, some of whom got the assistance they desperately needed just in time before their condition worsened beyond hope. But with Culmore Clinic, they were rescued, and now their lives have hope, peace, and even some joy.

When asked about why he became so dedicated to Culmore Clinic and our work, he said:

I remember when I first heard about Culmore Clinic from Fr. Tuck Grinnell in the year that The Clinic began. After a few years, I learned more about The Clinic's need for additional space when they contacted Columbia Baptist Church. Knowing that Columbia could partner with The Clinic to provide care for those who would not otherwise receive it meant that the church would have a real hand in "local medical missions."

An ordained minister for nearly 40 years, Greg has lived in Northern Virginia since 1988, and has served as a pastor and community-minded networker and collaborator. Investing in the lives of people in need has given him great satisfaction. About his work, he says:

Not only have I been blessed to be a part of a movement to meet the basic needs of people (physical, social, relational, spiritual), but I have received the joy of witnessing lives transformed, so that recipients of ministry grace have grown to become contributors of that grace as well. This is merely doing what Christ would have me (and all of us) do, and it is extremely fulfilling. I am so thankful to God for Culmore Clinic and its vital role in the Bailey's/Culmore community.
