Volunteer of the Week: Erica Harp

Erica Harp, Culmore Clinic Volunteer of the Week

Congratulations and a big thank you are in order to our Volunteer of the Week, Erica Harp. Erica is a Volunteer Intern at Culmore Clinic, but should have the title of Jane-of-all-Trades! She’s done so much to help our small, but mighty Clinic, including assisting nurses with Spanish-English interpretation, managing patient enrollment for our free medication program with NOVA ScriptsCentral, helping run our flu vaccination campaign over the winter, and now scheduling eligible patients for their COVID-19 vaccination through our partnership with Neighborhood Health and the County Health Department.

According to Erica, she does this work because…

I absolutely love being part of an organization that so deeply impacts and cares for vulnerable members of our community. Our patients encounter all sorts of barriers from their physical, mental, and financial well-being, and Culmore Clinic addresses those issues from all levels. I truly learn something new every day about health equity and our patient population while working at the Clinic. I have also really enjoyed getting to know many of our patients, who are some of the kindest and most grateful people I have met. I am continually inspired by the work Culmore Clinic does and am so thankful to be a part of such a compassionate community!

When Erica is not volunteering with Culmore Clinic, she is a student at George Mason University studying Community Health and Spanish. She is set to graduate this May. She has a passion for public health and says she believes in the power of advancing health equity through policy, “as well as through the kind of community-centered work that Culmore Clinic does.” In her free time, she’s an avid reader and loves to spend time outside hiking and learning to roller skate.
