Volunteer Spotlight: Mary Louise Proseck (Registered Nurse)
Volunteers founded Culmore Clinic in 2007 and to this day it is still significantly volunteer run. Each month we like to spotlight one of the volunteers that ensure Culmore Clinic continues to provide quality, culturally sensitive healthcare at little to no cost to our uninsured patients.
This month we are spotlighting Mary Louise Prosek, RN, Volunteer Nurse!
Mary Louise is a volunteer member of our Nursing Team. She is one of the invaluable volunteers providing patient care and education alongside the medical provider every Wednesday. As Mary Louise says, and we agree, the care she provides is dependent on and well-facilitated by our wonderful Interpreter Team. (Learn more about our Interpreter Team in last month’s Volunteer Spotlight on Andrea).
About why she volunteers at Culmore Clinic, Mary Louise says:
“I am proud to work with an organization that is committed to caring for the medically underserved in our community. I also feel privileged to work with such wonderful staff/volunteers and enjoy interacting with and helping patients who are so appreciative of the assistance we offer.”
Mary Louise has worked for 38 years in the nursing profession in various positions, including 16 years in Hospice Nursing. She and her husband Rick have lived in Northern Virginia for 35 years and have 3 adult daughters and 7 grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family and friends, enjoying their vacation home on Lake Anna, traveling, cooking, taking walks, and reading.
About Mary Louise’s work at Culmore Clinic, Barbara Weingold, Clinic Director, says:
Kind, empathetic, efficient, thorough, a problem solver, a teacher....she is an amazing and compassionate nurse. We are so grateful to have her as part of the Culmore Clinic team.
Thank you so very much for all that you do for Culmore Clinic and our patients, Mary Louise!
