Volunteer Spotlight: Parker Novak, A Multi-Talented Volunteer

Volunteers founded Culmore Clinic in 2007 and to this day it is still significantly volunteer run. Regularly we like to spotlight one of the volunteers that ensures Culmore Clinic continues to provide quality, culturally sensitive healthcare at little to no cost to our uninsured patients. 

This month we are spotlighting Parker Novak, who has held many volunteer roles at The Clinic since her start in 2016.

If you’ve volunteered at Culmore Clinic, chances are you’ve bumped into Parker Novak. Parker has worn many hats over the years. She started back in 2016, working with DeeDee on administrative tasks and supported the first transition Culmore Clinic made from paper records to Electronic Health Records. She later became the lead navigator during the COVID crisis, helping to enroll patients in The Clinic and later supported patient enrollment in the Kaiser CHAP program. She then became a lead organizer for patient navigation and her latest, and sadly final role, has been as a Spanish interpreter for our Spanish-speaking patients.

Starting this Fall she is off to Denver, Colorado to start a new adventure. We will certainly miss her and are eternally grateful for everything she has given to Culmore Clinic over the years. We celebrated Parker in late October with a farewell party.

We asked Parker what she would tell someone thinking about volunteering at Culmore Clinic but not sure where to start. She said, 

“You should dive right into the experience because the skilled and welcoming Culmore Clinic team will support and welcome you!”

Before Parker took off, we asked her if she had any parting words. Here’s what she had to say…

“Culmore Clinic is a healthcare home for both the patients and volunteers and I’d like to thank all the folks that continue to make it a home for all!”
